Do Legislators really think it's ok for boys and girls to be sharing bathrooms??

Sadly, apparently some of them do.

Here's a picture of the Senate's vote today on whether or not to protect students' physical privacy and safety by making sure school bathrooms are separated by biological boys and girls, and only biological girls compete on girls' sports teams.

GREEN means the Senator voted to protect students' safety and privacy.

RED means the Senator voted against considering the bill to protect students' privacy and safety--effectively killing the bill.

When the Senate Education Committee Chair would not give the Student Safety & Physical Privacy Act (S.F. 1543) a hearing, Senator Dave Brown (the bill's author) asked the Senate to bring his bill to the full Senate for immediate consideration today, in order to protect the safety and privacy rights of boys and girls in school.

The bad news is--the majority of Senators rejected the Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act, sending the message that apparently they think it's ok for biological girls and boys to be sharing intimate facilities like bathrooms, showers, hotel rooms, and locker rooms--and that it's ok for girls to be forced to compete against biological boys in their athletic competitions. Absolutely unbelievable!

The good news is--a bipartisan group of Senators voted FOR the Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act! 28 Republicans and DFL Senator Lyle Koenen voted to protect students' privacy and safety rights at school!

Check below to see what the next steps are to protect your child's safety and privacy!

The Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act is the bill that would undo the Minnesota State High School League's "transgender athlete" policy permitting biological boys who self-identify as girls to play on girls' sports teams. The Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act would also protect the privacy rights of boys and girls in their bathrooms, locker rooms, hotel rooms, and showers by requiring schools to keep bathrooms separated based on biological sex.

This is especially important in light of Minneapolis Schools' policy allowing transgender students to use the bathroom opposite their biological sex, and the "transgender policy" St. Paul Schools passed just this week permitting the same--and more!

Now that the Senate has voted against making sure my child has the basic rights to safety and physical privacy at school, what can I do about it?

STEP 1:

Make sure to THANK your Senator if he/she voted FOR the Student Safety & Physical Privacy Act, or if he/she did not--then let them know their vote was harmful to your child and family.

Our elected officials need to hear feedback from the Body of Christ!

1. Click HERE to use your zip code and address to look up your MN State Senator in the box marked "Find Officials"

2. Find the phone # or email for your MN State Senator.

3. Call or email them your feedback!

If your Senator is a Republican, he/she voted FOR protecting your child's privacy and safety--be sure to thank them!

If your Senator is DFL Senator Lyle Koenen (Clara City, District 17), he voted FOR protecting your child's privacy and safety--be sure to thank him!

If your Senator is any other DFL Senator, he/she voted AGAINST considering the bill to protect your child's (and all children's) privacy and safety, choosing instead to allow boys in girls' bathrooms (and vice versa).

STEP 2:

Now that the Senate stopped the bill to protect children's privacy and safety, it's up to the Minnesota House of Representatives!

Will they help protect your child's privacy and safety by making sure bathrooms at school continue to be separated based on biological boys and girls, and making sure only biological girls play on girls' sports teams??

Call or email your OWN STATE REPRESENTATIVE by clicking HERE to instantly send an email through our system by simply typing in your address to match you with your Representative;

OR

Click HERE to find your MN State Representative's phone number by typing in your zip code/address in the "Find Officials box.

In your call or email, ask your MN State Representative to bring the Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act (H.F. 1546) for a vote and PASS it immediately!

STEP 3:

Forward and share this email with friends, family, and church community, asking them to help! Let the Body of Christ be heard!

STEP 4:

Pray!
