We're sure you haven't been able to avoid the media blitz surrounding former Olympian Bruce Jenner's "transformation" to Caitlyn Jenner, but we're willing to bet you haven't heard the whole story in the push for "transgender rights." 

The push for transgender rights, the latest in the LGBT movement, comes with social and legal demands that the rest of us simply overlook biological reality and, instead of working to provide transgender people with the true compassionate help they need for a mental disorder, engage in a worldwide and deadly game of pretend.

And the stakes are high.

• People suffering from a gender disorder don't get the help they need and instead try to live out an identity that doesn't match reality. This often ends with worse problems for these individuals, genital mutilation that can't be reversed--even death by suicide. They pay a high cost while the rest of the world celebrates a twisted version of "equality." 
  
  Ask Walt Heyer, a man who identifed as female for many years.
   
• Schools continue to fall prey--incorporating "gender identity" into even elementary school curriculum and allowing students to choose whichever bathroom they want to use based on "gender identity," putting students' very safety and privacy at risk.
  
  Minneapolis and St. Paul schools already permit boys in girls' bathrooms (and vice versa) with their "transgender policies."
  
  The MN State High School League also already permits boys on girls' athletic teams.
   
• What about those who disagree morally and can't claim that something is true when it's false (that a biological woman is a man)? Will they be given the freedom to dissent?
  
  It's already being called "discriminatory" to not call a man who identifies as a woman a "she."
  
  Will religious freedom stand against "transgender rights"?
   
• What will happen to private companies who don't comply with OSHA's new recommendation (likely future rule?) that  transgender people be permitted to use the restroom of their "gender identity"?
  
  (The federal government already permits this.)
   
• What will happen to business owners' and employees' religious freedom and privacy with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) ordering damages to be paid to a transgender person when supervisors refused to use the person's preferred pronouns and refused to permit the person to use the opposite sex bathroom? 
  
  The EEOC also sued a private MN company (Deluxe Financial Services) for the same reasons. 

The push for "transgender rights" is based on the false ideas that you can divorce your mind and feelings from your body, and that however you feel you are or should be--that's what you really are, regardless of the physical reality. And you should receive social recognition, honor, and legal rights based on your perception of who you are. 

That's a truly radical idea. Imagine the implications of this line of thinking...

This got us thinking...what about people who identify as:

• Trans-intelligent: people who identify themselves as smarter than their GPA or test scores actually show and believe they should not be discriminated against by college admissions committees
   
• Trans-athletic: people who identify as star athletes, regardless of actual athletic ability, who feel they should receive pro-athletic opportunites
   
• Trans-aged: people who identify themselves as older or younger than their birth age and so petition states to change the date on their birth certificate

• Trans-racial: people who identify themselves as a different race.

• And, our personal favorite...Trans-Species: people who identify themselves as a different species and desire to live that out in their every day lives

Now, of course these last examples of becoming "Trans ________" are not real (at least not yet!), but the three examples with the pictures are! Click the links next to them to read the real stories.

And ALL of the examples demonstrate that following the logic of "whatever you think you are is what you are" will not lead to sound public policy and is, in fact, quite dangerous.

All along the way people who disagree will see their religious freedom rights trampled upon, people who truly need compassionate help and counseling won't receive it and instead face greater turmoil and in some cases even fatalities, and the privacy and legal rights of others will be taken advantage of.

So what can you do? 

1. Be joyful, run toward the bullets, and be ready with the Truth!
   
   Remember, nothing is new under the sun, and Paul warned in Romans that this latest form of worshipping the creation rather than the Creator would happen.
   
   Stand firm on the Truth, and be ready to run towards the cultural, media, political, and societal bullets boldly sharing the Truth and Hope you have in Christ, in love. Our darkened culture needs the Light YOU have so fear not!
    
2. Even though the Legislative session in MN has ended for the year, use this downtime to meet your own MN Representative and MN Senator while they're back in your district. 
   
   Encourage them to stand firm against the latest transgender movement, pray for them, and urge them to take the lead by working to pass the Student Safety and Physical Privacy Act (the bill that would require schools to keep bathrooms separated based on biological sex and undo MSHSL's "transgender athlete policy") and to kill bills that would require taxpayers to fund "gender reassignment surgeries" or any policies encouraging transgender confusion.

   Ask to meet with them or give them a call over the summer! Pray with them in person or over the phone! 
    
3. Get a group of parents together over the summer.
   
   Together, make a request to your Superintendent and School Board to pass a policy protecting the safety and privacy of children in school bathrooms, locker rooms, etc. while showing true compassion to students who suffer from gender confusion.
