Because you voted for candidates who stand for Life, Family and Religious Freedom, champions for the House and Senate crossed the finish line in FIRST place!
Your turnout at the polls yesterday was FANTASTIC! Conservative majorities are very rarely won in presidential election years. Liberal turnout typically peaks, leaving Republicans in the minority in state legislative bodies. This year voters defied historical trends and strengthened the conservative majority in the House, and appear to have won a conservative majority in the Senate as well!
HELD the HOUSE: Republicans not only held their majority in the House, but increased their lead by four seats, bringing party numbers to 76 Republicans and 57 Democrats.*
SPUN the SENATE: Republicans gained SIX seats in the Senate, bringing party numbers to 34 Republicans and 33 Democrats.*
*Please PRAY: These numbers are based on election results made available by the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office. A couple of districts require a recount. Please PRAY! As ballots are recounted, would you please pray that the process would be conducted fairly, that no irregularities would occur and that everyone involved in the process would act and report truthfully and with integrity. The outcome of Senate district recounts will determine the Senate majority.
Months ago we began strategizing in several key districts in an effort to raise awareness of rising champions. After much prayer, time working the ground, the phones, mailboxes, social media and our email networks, YOU went to the polls to vote! God chose to send an increasing number of CHAMPIONS into both the state House and Senate last night and we are incredibly thankful he allowed us to be a part of that influx with YOU! Thank you for being a CRUCIAL player in these races yesterday! Voter turnout was KEY to these victories!
We're rejoicing here at Minnesota Family Council for the opportunity this upcoming session to work with dozens of these CHAMPIONS on life, family and religious freedom policies in both the House and Senate!
Last session, key pieces of pro-life, pro-family, pro-religious freedom legislation passed through the MN House, only to die in the MN Senate because we lacked sufficient champions. Because you VOTED for champions yesterday, there is potential for great gains in both bodies!
We want to extend a sincere "Thank you!" First, we thank the Lord for choosing to appoint champions to these seats according to his plans. And second, we want to thank YOU for being faithful to vote according to biblical values. Voter turnout was KEY to launching champions across the finish line in first place!
  
For many reasons, last night's election results led to sighs of relief, yet limited celebration. Millions of Americans now wait to see how Donald Trump will choose to govern. Regardless of how you feel about the President-elect and whether or not you voted for him, he will be the next President of the United States. This outcome should lead us to encourage each other to trust in the Lord, give thanks and pray:
- TRUST in the Lord --- "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:23
- God is at work for the good of his children in the outcome of yesterday's elections. We have every reason to believe that he will be at work in his Church during Donald Trump's presidency.
- Give THANKS --- "For, there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." (Romans 13:1) "he removes kings and sets up kings" (Daniel 2:21)
- The Lord has a plan and a purpose for every official in authority. They are set up and removed by him. For this reason, we can give thanks knowing that God is at work. Donald Trump has been sovereignly chosen by God for a reason. And we should give thanks to God for his good plans.
- PRAY --- "...I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." 1 Timothy 2:1, 2
- Ask the Lord to lead Donald Trump to genuine faith in Jesus Christ.
- Ask the Lord to surround Trump with wise counselors who will speak truth to him and whom he will humbly listen to.
- Ask the Lord to use Trump to advance life, family and religious freedom policies across the nation.
Here at Minnesota Family Council, we are thanking the Lord for conservative majorities in the MN House and Senate, conservative majorities in both federal legislative bodies and for Donald Trump, the presidential candidate that the Lord has chosen to use in the United States for his purposes. Onward!
